Full stack engineer

Full-time / Part-time · Utrecht, The Netherlands

Are you passionate about learning and growing, and want to work in a company culture where you’re valued for who you are as well as what you can do? Are you ready to develop robust, scalable integrations with systems like CMS and e-commerce platforms?

As Senior Full Stack Developer you will help teams create and maintain high-quality, high-performance applications and contribute to our codebase's maintainability. You will contribute to the success of our teams and our clients with your skills and experience, a friendly positive approach, and a passion for getting things done!

about the role

At Lab Digital, we strive to make a positive impact by creating outstanding digital products for our clients, including global e-commerce platforms, content websites, and high-traffic middleware solutions, all based on cloud-native technology and often combined with headless SaaS products.

You enjoy working in teams and value good communication. You have experience in both front-end and back-end development, with the ability to bridge the gap between user interface design and server-side application logic. Thanks to your experience, you confidently make decisions and effectively communicate to bring both the team and the customer along. You are a proactive self-starter who enjoys seeing and implementing changes and improvements.

The teams at Lab Digital consist of developers, (UX) designers, QA specialists, business analysts, solution architects, scrum masters and project managers. Working as part of this team and in close cooperation with our clients, you will share responsibility to deliver high quality software products.

what you do

As a Full Stack Engineer you work with your team to realise technical solutions that fit the demand. You will also bring substantial features independently from concept to production. This means that you are responsible for, among other things:

  • Realising technical integrations with external systems (for example headless CMS and e-commerce platforms, payment providers, etc) that are robust, scalable and fault-tolerant.

  • Translating requirements into a technical architecture, solution and final implementation.

  • Develop and integrate robust, scalable front-end features using frameworks like React.

  • Creating well-documented, high-performance rest APIs and GraphQL endpoints.

  • Collaborate closely with UX/UI designers to implement their visions.

  • Supporting teammates in their work and provide feedback in a well-structured manner.

  • Helping define and improve our internal standards regarding code style, maintainability and scalability, among others.

  • Working with clients to train and support in-house development teams and stakeholders in working with the software products we develop.

what you bring

You will have a strong background in delivering high quality, reliable software solutions using modern software development techniques and working as part of a fully integrated team. We would also expect you to be able to demonstrate:

  • Experience with the development of (web) applications on senior level.

  • Trackrecord of developing NodeJS based server-side JavaScript/TypeScript applications with frameworks like Express or Apollo.

  • Proficiency in front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and modern frameworks (React, Angular, Vue.js).

  • Knowledge of responsive design, cross-browser compatibility, and front-end build tools.

  • Good knowledge of modern software development techniques (unit/integration testing, ci/cd pipelines, etc).

  • Experience running NodeJS applications on containerised (Docker/Kubernetes) and/or serverless (Lambda) functions.

  • Experience with event driven software architecture and messaging queues such as SQS, Kafka, RabbitMQ

  • Knowledge of AWS/Azure and infrastructure as code principles (Terraform)

  • Experience writing applications in the e-commerce domain such as payment solutions, links to ERP and order systems, etc.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken (and thus able to deliver documentation and help with training, for example)

  • You already live in The Netherlands.

  • Experience supporting and mentoring junior software developers, and contributing to a productive team environment.

Don't feel you meet 100% of the requirements? We celebrate building diverse teams from all backgrounds, so we encourage you to apply anyway and show us your potential!
